Two Birds with One Stone – Streamline handover and create a Digital Twin for operations.
11.25 – 11.45 | Inis Mór Section 2
It’s no secret that the commercial real estate and construction industries have been slow to embrace new technologies. However, those that are digitizing are realizing significant benefits.
Digital Twin solutions are known to help streamline handover, reduce operations costs and optimize building performance for building owners. What’s more, building owners can’t afford to not embrace digital transformation, because there’s a good chance that your competitors, vendors or customers have already begun. Louise will walk attendees through the Digital Twin creation process share how they can make significant contributions to streamlining capital project delivery and ongoing operations
Trinity Business School story – BIM to Digital Twin – The Journey
Presented with Professor Roger West of Trinity College of Dublin
13.55 – 14.15 | Veranda Lounge
Trinity Business School implemented BIM to design and build a new six-story building, which is almost 12,000 m2 in size, housing various facilities including a 600-seat auditorium and several smaller lecture halls. They then used BIM to build an asset information model (AIM) that they could leverage to create Digital Twin solutions.
They learned that while BIM can be an excellent foundation to build Digital Twin solutions for operations, a few things are needed to be successful:
- A well-defined information management strategy being established early, preferably prior to the start of design development and
- An appropriate technology platform that supports a flexible and extensible data model that can represent and associate data from many sources
This session outlines the process, tools and lessons learned from the experience. Join Louise and Roger to find out more!
